Tracker Pontoon Vent Instructions
The following is the actual operating instructions by/for Kelch cap used on pontoons and mod "v's:
1. During stoarge and transport close the valve to prevent fuel spillage and evaporation by turning the vent screw clockwise until tight.
2. During engine operation, open the valve to prevent a vacuum from forming in the fuel tank by turning the vent screw counter-clockwise until snug.
3. Prior to removing the fuel-cap, open the valve by turning the vent screw counter-clockwise until snug, and then depress the vent screw until the pressure is relieved from the fuel tank to reduce the risk of fuel spray.
The part (3) about pushing the button down to relieve pressure is actually embossed on cap. Part (1) is actually for lawn mowers and portable fuel tanks which have EPA 5 psi internal pressure requirement and possible fuel spray hazard. Our cap relieves at 1 psi. Leaving cap in part (2) will allow the vacuum breaker valve to work, which is separate from relief valve.
All of the current EPA mandated fill caps have relief and vacuum breaker valves. The difference is they do not have a button to push to relieve pressure before opening.
